Stress and worry

Stress is a normal reaction to have when it feels like there is a lot going on and few resources to cope with it. The pressure can come from various parts of the life including relationships, work, family, living conditions or health. The characteristics of stress include:

  1. Thoughts – I can’t cope, it’s too much, I’m failing
  2. Emotions – anxious, sad, upset, irritated
  3. Physical sensations – difficulty breathing normally, tight chest, restless
  4. Behaviour – difficulty sleeping, poor appetite, procrastinate, shouting and arguing, avoid
